THREE people were taken to hospital after a crash on the A173 between Skelton and Guisborough.
A Citroen Berlingo van and a Vauxhall Vectra car collided at Skelton Ellers at about 6.35pm on Wednesday.
The van caught fire after fuel was spilt and was destroyed while the car was partially damaged.
Police believe the driver of the van, a 57-year-old woman, lost control on a sharp left bend and went into the path of the Vauxhall Vectra.
The woman suffered bruising to the chest, both knees and an arm and her male passenger also suffered bruising to the chest, stomach, knees and ankles.
The male driver of the Vectra suffered slight injuries to his left knee and an 18-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, bruised both knees.
All four casualties were treated by ambulance crews but only three were taken to the James Cook University Hospital. The road was closed until 9pm.
