It was no contest in the top versus bottom affair in Division One when Rowlands CA saw off Whickham Glebe by 41 runs.
Colin Tait unbeaten on 70 and Simon Curtis 51 steered Rowlands CA to 149-3 and they then restricted Beamish to 108-3 thanks mainly to 41 not out from Malcolm Allen.
Rowlands CA then piled up 150-5 against Old Record Players with Tim Stonock 43 and Shaun Collins 41 doing the bulk of the damage while Old Record Players responded with 127-5 with Duncan Fisher top scoring with 32 with good support from Dan Owen 27 Colin Quigley 22 and Ed Corbett 21.
Old Record Players made amends with a nine wickets win over West End when they hit 108 with Ian Tew 56 not out bringing up the winning runs with a six and he was ably supported by Duncan Fisher who was unbeaten on 37.
In Division Two, Tyne Tees TV usually start off their seasons well but tend to fade away. They hit the ground running against Coquet with Dave Reay 72 leading the way in their 138-3 against Coquet who were 128 all out with Ian Todd making 48.
However it was not such good news for the television lads when they crashed by ten wickets against Monkseaton Saints.
Tyne Tees TV made 128 with Jim Clark scoring 69 before the Saints cruised to victory with Craig Faulkner 62 not out and Karl Taylor carried his bat for 54.
TWFB/Kibblesworth beat Adders by six wickets while Johnny Robinson was in devastating form for Cumberland Partners against promoted Bar BHT.
Robinson smashed 92 off just 53 deliveries to take the Partners to 140-6. It proved a crucial knock as Bar BHT responded with 128-8 but not before Robinson snapped up 3-20.
