BOB Bellerby from Harrogate retained his Harewood Speed Hillclimb Championship lead in last Sunday's Jim Thomson Trophy meeting despite an off in practice at the final corner, Quarry.
The excursion wrecked the car's radiator and caused the cam belt to jump. However, after lunchtime repairs and a radiator replacement, Bellerby resumed his dominance of the championship.
Steven Davies, second in the championship, was not so lucky in his Formula Ford, breaking a driveshaft in practice. The car could not be repaired so Davies had to settle for a shared drive and fourth in class.
Other notable runs came from championship third-placed man Simon Bainbridge, from Stokesley, in his 600 bhp Audi S2, before his final-run visit to the gravel trap at Quarry.
The next Harewood meeting is on July 3 and 4, when the Nicholson McLaren MSA British Hillclimb Championship returns to the hill.
