Hopetown created the big shock in the First Round of the Team Knockout Cup when they visited Bishop Auckland Golf Club, the reigning league champions, and won by 50 points.
The Golf Club had wins from Kevin Mordica, who beat Peter Mellor, and Paul Weighill, who beat Keith Bailey, but Hopetown pulled off two unexpected wins when Mark Stainsby beat Andrew Aisbitt and Alan Keeney beat Charlie Blake.
Barnard Castle Glaxo beat the visiting Shildon Elm Road in all four frames when they had wins from Peter Grace, who put in a 34 break, Tony Atkins, Steve Hopper and John Collingwood.

The draw for the Second Round, to be played on Tuesday, June 29, is: Rise Carr v Barnard Castle Glaxo; Hopetown v Darlington Snooker A; Darlington Snooker B v Northgate; Newton Aycliffe Southerne Club v Bishop Auckland Cricket Club.
