THREE North-East bands will be launching their new CDs, thanks to a special event organised by The Northern Echo's music website Revolution.

The Shining, The Fray and Eskimo will all be performing on July 30 at The Forum Music Centre, Borough Road, Darlington.

In November last year, Revolution launched a series of quarterly gigs called Platform, aiming to give unsigned bands and artists the opportunity to play in front of new audiences, gaining a wealth of publicity on the way.

This unique CD launch event will come under the Platform banner, helping the three acts get their sound heard and CDs sold.

Darlington five-piece The Shining will be playing an assortment of soulful rock, with lots of long jams and improvisation.

The Fray, also from Darlington, are an enthusiastic emerging rock act, who have only been performing together live for six-months.

In that time they have created a fantastic original rock show with elements of blues.

Richmond acoustic folk act Eskimo will also be performing with their constantly evolving line-up of fiddles, violins and keys.

The night promises to showcase the outstanding talent that the North-East has on its doorstep.

The event will run in conjunction with TFM radio and urban street-wear store Fourth Chamber.

Revolution editor Sean Leonard said: "This next Platform promises to be our best yet, as the venue is bigger and we should be able to get a really good atmosphere going.

"All the bands performing are brilliant live and I hope that this event will help them gain more publicity, and money from CD sales."
