YOUNGSTERS took the chance to have a ride on a railway legend at the weekend when Thomas the Tank Engine rolled into town.
Accompanied by the Fat Controller, Sir Topham Hatt, Thomas gave rides on the Wensleydale Railway from Leeming Bar station throughout Saturday and yesterday. There was also storytelling and a wide range of children's activities on offer as part of the event, called Days out with Thomas.
Children were given a Certificate of Travel on Thomas after the journey and a free child ticket for a journey to another station on the Wensleydale railway. Ruth Annison, the marketing director for the Wensleydale Railway, said: "Thomas has been delighting children and adults for more than 50 years.
"Day out with Thomas events are an exciting way for children and adults to enter the world of Thomas and Friends."
