A SUPPORT group calling for better services for people suffering from lung conditions presented a MP with a petition pressing the government for more money for funding.
The Teesside Breathe Easy group handed the petition to Ashok Kumar MP for Middlesbrough south and east Cleveland at a meeting on Saturday.
The group is calling for more funding from the Department of Health for pulmonary rehabilitation and after care services.
The Breathe Easy group is a self-help and support organisation providing advice, support and direct exercise clinics for local people suffering from a variety of lung conditions.
They have a long association with Mr Kumar, who has visited their clinic on a number of occasions.
He said: "They do valuable work for people suffering from lung related problems - always a problem in older industrial areas like Teesside - and I support them in their campaigning work.'
The petition was presented to Mr Kumar at the beginning of a march by the group from Victoria Square, Middlesbrough through to the main shopping areas on Corporation Road and Newport Road.
