A FORMER art lecturer has returned to the North-East to exhibit his work at Kirkleatham Museum, near Redcar.
Niven McNicol, who lectured in art at the former Teesside College of Education, in Middlesbrough, until 1975, organised his return after a visit from former student Mike Wright, whose exhibition at Kirkleatham finished recently.
Mr McNicol, who lives and works in Kirkcudbright, Scotland, has collected 15 pieces of art for Matters Material, which opened at the museum yesterday.
The exhibition runs until August 8.
The pieces, which are for sale, use fused glass, aluminium, steel and wood, and are all finished with acrylic paint.
They represent Mr McNicol's work since March last year.
