A GIRL with Down's syndrome will be making a trip to London this summer to see her portrait in a display.
Megan Jemmett's mother, Karen, from Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, entered a photo of her three-year-old daughter into a competition organised by Mencap.
The twinkle in her eye warmed the hearts of the judges, who chose her picture from more than 800 entries to feature in the charity's Snap! display of photographs.
The image, called Peek a boo, will be exhibited alongside others in the Victoria and Albert Museum, in London, together with stories offering insights into the lives of people suffering from learning disabilities.
Mrs Jemmett, who is pregnant with her second child, said of Megan: "Every little step is a huge achievement and makes us very proud.
"We feel very lucky to be her parents."
The Snap! display will be running until August and Mrs Jemmett said the whole family was thrilled that Megan, who goes to nursery at Stephenson Way Primary School, in Aycliffe, is a part of it.
"Megan is a delight and it is wonderful to see her progress," she said.
"She has fantastic support and although she is slower to learn things than other children, her achievements are huge."
