THE sun shone for a church fete attended by hundreds of villagers at the weekend.
The event, in Hurworth, near Darlington, raised almost £2,000 for All Saints Church on Saturday.
The fete was opened by Peter Barron, editor of The Northern Echo.
Visitors enjoyed books, cake and bric-a-brac stalls, and pony rides.
The Reverend Michelle Ferguson said: "It was a very good turnout. There were certainly 300 people there and we were really pleased.
"As we were putting up the marquees the sky was slightly grey, but the clouds drifted off and the weather was perfect."
