A BUILDING designed to help to keep North-East business buzzing opened yesterday.
The Research Beehive is the result of a £2.2m conversion of the old Newcastle University library building, and replaces a senior common room.
It features a suite of meeting rooms, providing facilities for presentations and group working, plus a 140-seat restaurant.
Staff and students can book rooms to discuss research ideas with representatives of business partners.
Dr Douglas Robertson, the university's director of business development, said: "The Research Beehive will allow people to combine business with pleasure by discussing ideas in pleasant surroundings, with catering facilities on hand."
Staff from the business development directorate will be based in the beehive.
