RAFAEL Benitez was today confirmed as the new manager of Liverpool.
The former Valencia coach succeeds Gerard Houllier, who was sacked by the Anfield board last month.
Last season Benitez guided Valencia to the Primera Liga title and the Uefa Cup.
A number of European club's were interested in the 44-year-old. However, the Spaniard is reportedly keen to test his managerial skills in the Premiership.
His first game in charge will be in a pre-season friendly against Celtic on July 26.
