Youngsters are this week being introduced to the wonders of science.
Pupils are attending Science is Great workshops and exhibitions at the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough.
About 4,000 children are expected through the doors of to sample everything from an inflatable planetarium to the challenge of making a load bearing suspension bridge using paper and tape.
Organiser Sarah McLusky said: "Science is Great is a fantastic opportunity for children to get involved in hands on activities and find out why science is so important to their everyday lives. It also gives them a real chance to find out how fascinating and diverse science can be.''
