COUNTY Durham groups that cater for older people have been invited to a free performance of traditional Russian music.
Musicians from County Durham's twin city of Kostroma are to perform at the Gala Theatre, Durham City, before an invited audience, on Friday, July 2.
The 90-minute, free performance will feature Makhonia, a five-piece accordion ensemble who play traditional music, and the vibrantly costumed ten-member Venets, who perform traditional folk music and dance.
Organisations wanting to attend the performance, which starts at 10am, are asked to contact Karen Smith, at Durham County Council's International Relations Office, on 0191-383 3358 to obtain tickets.
The Kostroma groups will also be performing in St Mary's Church, Gainford, at 7.30pm on June 29, and will be giving special performances in schools in Derwentside and Durham City.
They will also perform at the Durham City summer festival on July 3 and 4, which will feature performers from the Somme region of France.
