HUNDREDS of people took to the streets of Newton Aycliffe for this year's road race.
Peterlee runner Terry Wall, of Morpeth Harriers, led the field of 250 entrants to win the Aycliffe 10km race for the second consecutive year.
He completed the race in 32min 25sec, ahead of Charles Herrington, of Belgrave Harriers, with Michael Thompson, of Gateshead Harriers, in third place.
The first woman home was Olivia Walwyn, of Durham University, in 37min 37sec, with Aiveen Fox, also of Durham, in second place, and Laura McPherson, of New Marske Harriers, third.
The race, sponsored by 3M Aycliffe, has been organised for seven years by Newton Aycliffe Athletics Club.
This year's race raised funds for the Macmillan Cancer Relief County Durham Appeal.
Race director Sue Milburn said: "It was great to see so many people joining in the spirit of the day.
"We would like to thank all those who supported us, 3M for their sponsorship, the police, town council, the St John Ambulance and the race officials."
3M Aycliffe site manager Phil Wild said the company had been very pleased to support the race for the third successive year.
He said: "It is an important event for the community and we would like to congratulate Newton Aycliffe Athletics Club for the excellent way they organised the day - and also, of course, all the runners who took part."
As well as the main race, there was also a 3km fun run that attracted almost 150 entries.
