A MAN admitted making racially aggravated remarks to a police officer after he was stopped on suspicion of drink-driving.
Leslie Thompson, 40, of Chaytor Terrace, Fishburn admitted several offences at the Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court hearing yesterday, where he appeared via video-link from Holme House Prison, in Stockton.
The court heard Thompson was stopped by police in Sedgefield on May 31, and made the derogatory remarks to an officer.
He was stopped again by officers who suspected he had been drink-driving in Trimdon Village on June 8.
In both cases Thompson admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath and driving without insurance.
He also admitted a charge of driving without a licence, a racially aggravated public order offence, and breaching a community rehabilitation order.
The case was adjourned until Tuesday, July 6, when he will appear before magistrates for sentencing. He was remanded in custody to that date.
