HEALTH workers are leading by example and swapping the car journey to work for a cycle ride.
Staff at Derwentside and Durham and Chester-le-Street Primary Care Trusts are saddling up in support of National Bike Week, which runs until Saturday.
Staff taking part are offered free healthy breakfasts when they arrive at work.
Anne Edwards, pictured left, committee organiser for Derwentside PCT, was among the first to take part in the scheme, cycling to the trust's headquarters in Shotley Bridge, near Consett.
Staff taking part will also be presented with certificates and will go into a national prize draw.
