A FUNDRAISING appeal to buy a town's public land has been given a boost by an organic food company, which has signed up as a sponsor.
Farmaround Organic has promised to donate ten per cent of all sales generated in Richmond to the open spaces appeal being run by Richmondshire Landscape Trust.
The trust is trying to buy land, including Westfield, Sleegill, South Bank and Jack King's Wood, which is being put up for sale by Richmondshire District Council. It needs to raise £120,000 over the next three years to safeguard the future of the land.
Isobel Davies, of Farmaround, said: "Businesses should be involved locally. We work within the local economy, we employ local people and we all live locally.
"We have to help ensure that our environment is as open, friendly and safe as can be. Supporting Richmond Open Spaces Appeal is our way of helping Richmondshire."
Trust chairman Frank Gibbon welcomed the support. "We are really pleased that Farmaround Organic is supporting us in such a public way," he said.
