Fishburn A never managed to go ahead at Witton Gilbert until they clinched victory in the decider. John Rooney junior put the home side ahead but John Griffin levelled.
John Rooney senior restored the Witton lead only to see Charlie Hirst square the match. In the decider Fishburn's John Carter beat Ian Renwick on the black.
Wheatley Hill A moved up to share the top spot in the First Division with Fishburn A after they only dropped one point to the visiting Brandon. The Hill looked to have taken the first point when Dave Walker put in a 30 break leaving Kevin Sample needing three snookers on the blue. The feat seemed at best very unlikely but Sample pulled it off, took the remaining balls and put Brandon ahead when he won by three points. However that was the end of the visitors' scoring for Ronnie Peacock, Dennis Clish, Alan Hall and Jack Wright took the remaining points for the Hill.
Sherburn Village held on to third place, two points behind the leaders, despite losing by the odd point to the visiting Shotton Palms. Dave Swindle, Paul Hickman and Jimmy Evans junior won for the Palms with Scott Mallaburn and John Bower replying.
Willington are two points behind Sherburn after losing by the odd point to the visiting Spennymoor A. The Moors took the first three points through Karl Welsh, Paul Atkinson and Paul Biddle before Stan Bennett and Gordon Parkin took points for Willington.
Meadowfield led twice at Newhouse but went down by the odd point. Alan Wright put the visitors ahead but Paul Wright put in a 50 break to equalise. Norman Smith won a black ball fight to restore Meadowfield's lead but Graeme Thompson cleared the colours to the pink to level the match. In the decider Newhouse's John Maddox beat Martin Halliday.
Crowtrees A went down by the odd point at home to Newton Aycliffe. The home side had wins from Sean Johnston and Dave Lowery with a 36 break but the visitors went to victory with wins from Michael Hewitt, Stuart Neil and Ronnie Hall.
Stanley Central moved one point clear at the top of the Second Division after they won at Old Shildon. The home side went two up through David Waites and Martin Taylor. The third frame produced 30 breaks for both Paul Armstrong for the home side and Jin Dufton, who went on to pull one back for the Central. Bob Oxley then levelled the match before Michael Vickery beat Michael Hoggart in the decider.
Coundon A beat the visiting Langley Park to go second in the Second Division, whilst the Park share third place. Charlie Blake put Coundon ahead but Lawrence Jones levelled and Robert Roche put the Park ahead when he won on a re-spotted black. Mick McKerry squared the match before Billy Goggins beat Stephen Coates in the decider.
New Durham joined Langley Park and Bearpark A in equal third place after they were beaten in the decider at Spennymoor B. The visitors went two up through Kevin Scullion and Neil Phillips but Alan Shaw and Wayne Parry levelled with the Moors going to victory when Mickey Anderson beat Thomas Cairns in the decider.
Durham City made their second win of the season when they beat the visiting Ferryhill A by the odd point. Michael Pratt, Brian Dunn and David Carter won for the City with Ian Fawcett and Neil Spender taking points for Ferryhill.
Wheatley Hill B went three up at Crook Belle Vue with wins from Tony Ellison, Ken Johnson and Phillip Taylor before Gordon Dodd and Michael Burke won for the home side.
Sacriston held on to the top spot in the Third Division after they only dropped one point to the visiting Victoria, whose only winner came from an impressive performance from John Facey, who made his third win on his first season in the league. The home winners were Mark Appleby, Jeff Evans, Dale Evans and Willy Nixon.
Hunwick and Ferryhill B both recorded whitewash victories to share second place, six points behind Sacriston. Hunwick had wins from Barry Fleming, John Bate, Tom Ward, Trevor Lomax and Neville Blenkinsopp to beat the visiting Leeholme A, whilst Ferryhill B had points from Les Lewis, Mark Wilson, Terry Roddam, Billy Roddam and Doug Nelson to beat the visiting Bearpark B.
Fishburn B beat the visiting Coundon B by the odd point with wins from Paul Nicks, Andrew Nicks and George Whitelock, whilst the visitors' replied with wins from Steve Bainbridge and Eric Duff.
Tow Law A won the local derby by beating their B team by the odd point. The A team had wins from Heppell Hodgson, Stephen Laing and Lee Cullinan, whilst the B team replied through Lee Stockdale and Paul Chollerton.
Crowtrees B looked to be on their way to a whitewash victory at Leeholme B when they had wins from Billy Edwards, David Taylor, John Richardson and Terry Gibson before Anthony Forster saved the brush by winning the final frame on the black.
