Cockerton earned just 72 but made Catterick Village fight all the way for a two wicket victory, writes Malcolm Pratt.
Owen (20) and Tomlin (24) added 31 for the first wicket but thereafter the Cockerton batsmen found it difficult against the twin attack of Daley and Oselton. The latter earned four wickets for just six runs and Daley took four for 44 while Swainston, who opened the attack and captured the wickets of two of the first three batsmen, ended with two for 20.
Catterick Village though also found runs difficult to score and they looked to be on their way to defeat until Keith Swainston rescued the innings with a timely 23 which included four boundaries. Catterick Village won after losing eight wickets five of them to Glew for just 25 runs and four to Farrow, who conceded 27 runs in 12 overs.
Barton had 32 runs in hand of Raby Castle. When they made first use of the wicket, Barton totalled 172 which included 50 by opened Lockey, Kearney contributed 36 and Eden 33 while Fawcett also played a good innings of 29.
Wilson had four for 36, Poole three for 45 and Dent two for 36 for Raby Castle who in reply were restricted to 140 for nine.
Kirkup (19) and Dent (20) opened the innings and after Poole added 24, Scaith made the top score of 40. Hull, introduced as third change in the Barton attack, took three for 14 while Eden had two for 38 and Frankland two for 44.
Heighington won a high scoring game with Haughton by 25 runs. Batting first, Heighington totalled 217 for five with scores of 39 by Riley, 40 from Beanson and 34 by Paylor. Beaumont ended unbeaten with 22 and Wilson contributed 24 not out to an unbroken six wickets partnership which took the score past 200. Wilkinson had two for 41 and McGuire two for 40 for Haughton.
When they replied the visitors lost two early wickets but opened McGuire (80) found an able partner in Wilkinson who made 62. For a time it looked as if the pair might secure victory for Haughton but in the end the visitors only realised 192 for seven as Boocock captured three for 58, Jackson two for 31 and Beaumont two for 62.
Openers Ashton (78) and Bainbridge (48) laid the foundations for Middleton St George's formidable total of 224 for seven at Rockcliffe Park where Ayub added 25 and Rodgers 22.
Garbutt had a good day with the ball for Rockcliffe Park and he took five of the seven wickets to fall for 75 runs with the other two falling to Cunby at a cost of 42 runs.
When they responded Rockcliffe Park's openers also gave their side a good send off. Pybus made 33 and Wheeler 43 but no other player passed20 and the innings ended on 183 all out as Daz captured four for 81 and Rodgers two for 42.
Witton-le-Wear just edged Ingleton by 16 runs. Faced with a target of 139, Ingleton were sent back to the pavilion with 122 on the board which included 34 by Wood and 39 from Michael Batey. David Penfold was in good form with the ball for Witton-le-Wear returning four for 22 and Sneath had three for 63.
Chrisp (30), Bannister with 33 and Penfold (44) were in good form early in the order for Witton-le-Wear and towards the end of the innings Stockton added a valuable unbeaten 24 to total of 138 for five. Mellor had two for 23 and Gammack two for 34 for Ingleton.
Cliff lost by 60 visiting Barningham. Newton opened with 34, Lowes contributed 29, Mullens 30 and May 26 to the Barningham total of 192 for eight. Cliff had Anderson in form with the ball and he claimed two for 44 with Carrick taking two for 45.
Replying, Cliff were all out for 132 with Knight top scoring with 36. Belwood, brought on a second change, took three for 15, Kearton had three for 35, French two for 33 and Moore two for 37 for Barningham.
In Division B, Eryholme restricted Heighington to 74 all out but still left six wickets before winning after 20 overs at the wicket.
Charles Walker sent down 14 overs in the Eryholme attack capturing four for 26, Ashley Robson junior took four for 36 from six overs and Noel Hollis two for 15 from the eight overs he delivered.
Replying Eryholme also found it difficult but 20 by Simon Thornton with four boundaries and a late unbeaten 15 from junior Ashley Thorpe earned Eryholme victory even though Jemmerson struck form with the ball for Heighington returning the excellent figures of four for 29 in ten overs two of which were maidens.
Spennithorne and Harmby were all out for 92 but still defeated Trimdon CCA by nine runs.
In a game dominated by bowlers Coughtry bowled well for Trimdon claiming six for 23 and Watchman took two for 31. Both Greaves and Farrow contributed 27 each to the Spennymoor total.
When they replied, Coughtry opened the Trimdon innings making 20 but the innings only produced a total of 83.
Walker was another bowler in good form as just five wickets cost him just 29 runs while Greaves returned three for ten and Molinaux two for 15.
Runs were more plentiful at Dales but it was Middleton Tyas who won by a margin of 20 runs.
Batting first, they were given a good start by Wilkinson with 25 and Mann, at number three, who contributed 52 to a total of 145 for six which also included 22 not out by Weaver. Hutchinson with four for 66 was the most productive bowler in the Dales attack.
When Dales responded opened Lawson scored 22 but a collapse occurred. Hutchinson ended unbeaten with 22 and Hollingsworth batting at number ten added 40 to the all out total of 125. Wilkinson and Williams each took five wickets for Middleton Tyas.
Middleton in Teesdale won by 42 runs at home to Brompton on Swale. Coatesworth (33), Bradley (36) and Fletcher (37) led the way as Middleton in Teesdale totalled 152 for seven with four of the wickets going to Leyburn for 61 runs. Felstead claimed two wickets for 62 runs.
Brompton on Swale made an uncertain start to their innings but 51 by Frankland raised the total to 110 all out. Coatesworth bowled an economical end for Middleton in Teesdale claiming four wickets for 25 runs while Watson had two for 17 and Waller two for 11.
Albrough St John were sent back with only 74 runs on the board at home to Lands for whom Linsley had figures of five for 38 and Cumming five for 34. Lands romped home losing just one wicket that of Elstob for 36. Linsley finished undefeated on 23.
East Cowton also won comfortably at home to Rockcliffe Park after restricting the visitors to 111 all out which included 30 by Wilkes. Whitfield was in splendid form with the ball for East Cowton returning the magnificent figures of eight for 49. East Cowton were given a good send off by openers Raw with 39 and Grant (34) and they lost just three wickets reaching the modest target. All three wickets were taken by Pounder for 27 runs.
In Division C, Barningham had 27 runs in hand of Cliff. Thompson (42) led Barningham to 113 all out with peacock returning four for 25 and Baldwin three for 18 for Cliff, who realised only 86 including 36 by Peacock . Hutchinson, with five wickets for 14 and Taylor (3-39) were the bowlers who dominated the Cliff innings.
After King James had made 147 for eight Cockerton won losing just four wickets as Rawlings ended unbeaten on 79 and Widdall contributed 40.
Trimdon CCA won by eight wickets over Haughton whose 109 for six including 32 by Dobinson. Gorton claimed three for the six wickets to fall for 48 runs before an unbeaten 47 by Pratt and 34 not out from Lee earned Trimdon CCA full points.
Barton had 43 runs in hand of Raby Castle. Faced with a target of 146 Raby Castle were all out for 102 as Burn took five for 41 and Walsh four for 39. Kelly with 48 not out, top performed in the Barton innings which yielded 145 for five.
Spennymoor had all their wickets remaining when they overtook the Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill total of 85 for eight. Rowell returned five for 50 for Spennymoor for whom Hodgson finished unbeaten on 38 and Nichols contributed an unbeaten 33.
