eight youngsters are going to Athens to cover the Olympic Games after taking part in a summer school for young journalists.
The pupils from King's Manor and Hall Garth schools, Middlesbrough, were chosen by Creative Partnerships Tees Valley and Middlesbrough FC to represent the North-East in Greece while learning about media and sports reporting.
They are Ashley Turner, Scott Gell, Sophie Rowney and Selina Rashad from King's Manor, and Magadass Ahmed, Helen Appleby, James Ooi and Grant Quick from Hall Garth.
Before the trip they will spend five days at the Willie Maddren Centre learning about sports reporting from professional journalists and film-makers.
Trip organiser Martin Hedgley, manager of the football club's Playing For Success study support centre, said: "Students and adults will never get this chance again, to be at the heart of the Olym-pics, rubbing shoulders with past and present Olympic champions, and learning about the world of journalism at the same time."
Andy West, deputy project manager from King's Manor School, said: "The pupils are very excited. Some have never travelled by air and some haven't been to a major sporting event before.
"I am sure that the children will be great ambassadors for Middlesbrough at the games and, hopefully, even go on to enjoy a career in journalism."
