On Saturday Mike Saul gave an excellent training session to six home crews and seven visiting crews from Budworth, Pennine, St Mary's Loch, Ripon, Tynemouth, Newbiggin and Scaling Dam.
Great galley food, barbeques, socialising and a brilliant live band, 'Eric & The Vikings', ended a successful day.
Sunday saw 12 home boats and 15 visitors contesting in brilliant sunshine at the western end of the reservoir, in front of the clubhouse, with wind strengths of 20-30, at one stage gusting up to 40, which gave excellent spectator sport with plenty spectacular capsizes.
Keith Escritt and Anne Saul from Yorkshire Dales SC sailed consistently, winning three races and coming second in the fourth race, only losing out to Andrew and Eve Hartley of Ripon SC who won the second race. Patick Altoft and Deborah Greenland from Ripon came second overall with three second places. First lady's helm and crew were Kirsty McSeveney and Mandy Hindle from St Mary's Loch who came 5th. The first home boat was Josh Gebhard and Tom Jeffrey in 9th place, just pipping dad, David, who was overpowered due to lack of weight with 10 year old Joric.
1st 876 Keith Escritt & Anne Saul, Yorkshire Dales SC 3 pts; 2nd 852 Patrick Altoft & Deborah Greenland, Ripon SC 6 pts; 3rd 888 Andrew & Eve Hartley, Ripon SC 9 pts; 4th 930 Dave Redpath & Annie McSeveney, St Mary's Loch 15 pts.
