This week it's all carp. The best haul was by Duncan Patey who fished the lakes for the first time. Duncan, from Norfolk bivvied up and got into some good carp: commons of 14lb 8oz, 12lb 40oz and 18lb 4oz. If that wasn't enough he landed a mirror of 17lb 2oz.
C Brown, a pensioner from Waterhouses, had a good bag of tench and perch but left no record of the weight. D Wilson of Bishop Aucklnad had a common of 9lb 8oz, James McCurran of Witton Gilbert had a nice 14lb common and S Reid a mirror of 6lb 8oz on bread. That's the only bait recorded. I do know that lots of fish were lost in the water weeds which are now growing at pace. As soon as the water birds have reared their young we'll have top start cutting the lilies back.
Baits are flavoured sweetcorn, bread and boilies. Pop ups do well and floated crust. Worms and maggot account for good bags of silver fish and perch.
