Six Billingham swimmers qualified for the North Eastern Counties BAGCAT (British Age Group Category) Championships that took place at Ponds Forge, Sheffield over the last two weekends.
Twelve-year-old Glen Martin produced some tremendous swims to reach fourth in the 400m free in which he achieved a national time and just missed out on a national time by up to 2 minutes in the 1500m free and 200m free in which he finished ninth. Glen finished eighth in the 100m fly and ninth in the 100m free, his other swims being 200m back, IM and breast and 100m breast and back.
Thirteen-year-old Christopher Wilkinson was in magnificent form, he was successful in claiming a bronze medal in the 100m free, fourth in the 200m free, fifth in the 400m free, 200m fly and 100m fly, sixth in the 1500m free, seventh in the 400m IM his other swim being 200m IM.
With excellent swims 13-year-old Bradley Dixon swam in the 100m free and fly and the 200m back and 12-year-old Anthony Brown who swam the 200m free.
Ten-year-old Stephanie Blakeburn swam the 100m free and back and 200m free, back and IM. Eleven-year-old Gareth Allen swam 200m free both competitors with superb swims were competing in their first championships.
