VOLUNTEERS are set to take part in a 50-mile cliff top trek to raise money for charity.
Cleveland Police employees will run the eight-hour route between Redcar and Scarborough tomorrow in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in South Bank.
The course is being split into sections, varying from three to 12 miles. A number of people who have volunteered to take part have never run before.
Organiser, Insp Chris Garner, an experienced runner, who is doing a 12-mile leg from Whitby to Ravenscar, hoped to have at least two people on each leg of the trek.
"There are footpaths along the cliffs, but it is quite hilly," she said. "For example Boulby Cliff is 666ft high, the highest cliff on the Eastern coast. The whole course is undulating and involves some significant climbs.
"The people who are running are predominantly from Langbaurgh police, but we are open to anyone from the force."
The Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre offers physiotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, dietary advice and counselling, not only for people with multiple sclerosis, but also for children with cerebral palsy.
It is hoped the run could become an annual event.
