DOGS of all shapes, colours and sizes strutted their stuff during a fun competition yesterday.
About 1,500 dog owners took their pets to an open day at the Dogs Trust Re-homing Centre, in Sadberge, near Darlington.
The event included a dog show with categories ranging from scruffiest dog and waggiest tail to the dog most like owner and the prettiest bitch.
The event was organised to raise money for the trust and encourage people to consider giving a home to an abandoned dog.
One of the star attractions was Kenco, an abandoned four-year-old Jack Russell who lives permanently at the centre because he cannot be rehomed. Instead, he is sponsored by thousands of people, including many who visited yesterday.
There was also a police dog presentation, canine dancing and an agility and fly ball demonstration.
Sarah Shreeve, the centre's supporter relations officer, said: "It's gone really well and been a fantastic day with lots of money raised.
"We've also had lots of bookings for dogs to be rehomed, which is great news."
