BEECH Grove Primary school has been crowned the king of the road after winning an annual Junior Road Safety Quiz.
Last year's champions, St Peter's CoE Primary School, were a close second with Riverdale Primary finishing in third place.
The event, organised by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, attracted teams from more than thirty schools with the three finalists taking the challenge to prove their road sense.
Road safety manager Mike Hall said: "It was a brilliant day and all three schools did excellently. It was a really close final."
Beech Grove teaching assistant Cath Harrap said: "All of the team has worked really hard and they deserve the success. The difficulty we had was selecting the four team members to take part in the final.
"It has been really good fun and the children have learnt some important safety lessons, so overall it has certainly been a worthwhile exercise for them."
The Beech Grove winning team was made up of Stephanie Southward, Stephanie Peacock, Matthew Wilson and Thomas Watson, with reserve Leigh Winn.
Quizmaster and judge, Tracee Hall-Young, said: "This year's competition was really tough, all the teams did really well and Beech Grove should be proud of themselves."
