A GROUP of soldiers serving in Afghanistan are running 3,670 miles for charity - the equivalent distance from their base in Kabul to their regimental headquarters.
The members of the 1st Battalion The Green Howards are serving with the International Security Assistance Force in the Afghan capital.
They are running the equivalent of every mile back to the home of their regiment in Richmond to raise funds for the NSPCC.
When they are not on patrol, the ten men, all from B (King Harald) Company spend their spare time notching up the miles to ensure they reach the total distance before the Battalion returns to Britain in the autumn.
So far they have covered more than 900 miles and hope to complete the last few miles on their return to Britain with a run into Richmond in October, finishing at the Regimental Museum in the Market Square.
Taking part are: Major Brasher, Captain Crossley, Company Sergeant Major Lindoe, Colour Sergeant Brown, Corporal Dack, Corporal Gillies, Corporal Ward, Lance Corporal Twizzell, Lance Corporal Jackson and Private Crawford.
