A PROJECT that looks at the theme of portraits and identity is hoping to get the members of the public engaged with art.
The project, by York artists, is on show as part of the Territories exhibition at the city's Yorkshire Museum.
Organisers hope to reach out to people who might not normally visit art galleries.
Griselda Goldsbrough, York Art Gallery's community arts co-ordinator, has worked with a number of community groups over the past six months, visiting them regularly to give informal and art workshops.
She said: "I've been very impressed by the range of work produced and have had great fun working with the different groups.
"We are now looking for more people to get involved in the next phase of this project and they can come along and find out more at the exhibition."
The Territories exhibition is open today and then from Thursday until Sunday. Admission is free.
