REDCAR MP Vera Baird is to speak at the Northern Pensions Conference in Newcastle next month.
About 150 union activists and member-trustees are likely to hear Ms Baird talk about her work on the House of Commons Select Committee on Work and Pensions.
The conference, held at the University of Northumbria, is sponsored by the TUC.
Other speakers include Minister for Pensions Malcolm Wicks, National Association of pension Funds chairman Terry Faulkner, and the deputy general secretary of trade union Amicus, Lucy Kelly.
Organiser Sue Ward said: "We are very pleased to have a local MP involved in our national conference this year. Vera has been doing a great deal of work on the Select Committee, and also on scrutinising the Pensions Bill going through Parliament.
"She succeeded in persuading the Government that they must publish a major report on women's pension position for next year, which is quite a victory.
