A SCHOOL in Yarm has received an award for its achievements in the arts.
Conyers School was awarded the Arts Mark Gold Award from the Arts Council of England in recognition of the commitment of students and teachers to the arts.
The award was presented to Brenda Oxlee, head of the school's creative arts team, by James Bustard of the Arts Council during an exhibition of students examination art work.
The school's symphony orchestra played at the event in preparation for the National Festival of Youth competition in London next month.
Mrs Oxlee said the school was proud to win the award and praised pupils and staff.
