CONSIDER yourself invited to a production of the classic musical, Oliver!
Children from Park View Community School, Chester-le-Street, have converted their theatre to look like Dickensian London.
An all-singing, all-dancing cast of 60 year seven and eight pupils from the North Lodge site will take on the parts, including those of Oliver Twist, Fagin, Bill Sykes and the Artful Dodger.
The show will feature all the songs from the 1968 film as well as a few extra.
School drama teacher and production director Kristy Laurence said: "It is only slightly different as it is the play version, but it has still got all the favourites.
"The children are incredibly excited about the play and have given 100 per cent in rehearsals.
"They have stayed after school, designed posters and made their own costumes.
"The pickpocket scenes with Fagin and Dodger are very funny, but the highlight is the dramatic ending. It is very powerful."
The show will run from Monday to Wednesday next week, at 7.30pm, at the school theatre on the Church Chare site.
Tickets cost £4 adults and £3 children and concessions. They are available at the door but people are warned to get there early to avoid disappointment.
