The Barclay brothers have won the race to buy the Daily and Sunday Telegraph.

The pair, who also own The Business and The Scotsman, were victorious on the second occasion after previously having an initial £260m bid blocked by the board of the newspapers' owner Hollinger Inc.

Hollinger announced that Press Acquisitions Limited had agreed to acquire Telegraph Group Limited for a purchase price of £729.5m in cash. Full story, see tomorrow's business page.
