A GROUP of soldiers serving in Afghanistan is running 3,670 miles for charity - the equivalent of the distance from their base in Kabul to their regimental headquarters in Richmond.
The members of the 1st Battalion The Green Howards are serving with the International Security Assistance Force in the Afghan capital and are due to return to Britain in the autumn. They are running to raise funds for the NSPCC.
So far the ten men, from B (King Harald) Company, have covered more than 900 miles and hope to complete the last few miles with a run into Richmond in October.
Taking part are: Major Brasher, Captain Crossley, Company Sergeant Major Lindoe, Colour Sergeant Brown, Corporal Dack, Corporal Gillies, Corporal Ward, Lance Corporal Twizzell, Lance Corporal Jackson and Private Crawford.
