A FLORAL tribute in the shape of a pool table was a fitting goodbye to a father and son who died in a car accident.

Shaun Gellatly, 28, and his father Mally, 48, played pool together at the Kicking Cuddy Inn, where a wake was held yesterday.

Coxhoe villagers held a collection for the funeral of the father and son, who died in a car crash in the early hours of June 15.

Shaun, of Park Avenue, Coxhoe, and Mally, of Westfield Way, Redcar, east Cleveland, were back seat passengers in a Rover when it left the A177 and overturned.

Friends and family gathered St Mary's Church, in Coxhoe, to pay their last respects.

Relatives asked mourners to wear colourful clothes, rather than traditional black.

Shaun's sister-in-law, Angela Boseley, said they would not have wanted the service to be a sad affair because they loved laughing so much.

She said: "Shaun and Mally liked colour and did not like things to be too traditional.

"They would have wanted it to be a party atmosphere and not a black and sombre affair."

"We wanted everyone to give them a damn good send off."

Music at the funeral included In These Arms by Bon Jovi, as it was one Shaun's favourite songs.
