WORK to transform a Georgian listed building into a popular tearoom is under way.
The last roof tile has been put in place and the structural work has been completed at 189a Northallerton High Street. The former bank will be the new home of Bettys Caf Tea Rooms, which is moving from two doors along.
Bettys has had a branch in Northallerton since 1971 and employs 49 people.
The new premises will have a larger shop and caf, an outdoor courtyard and improved disabled access.
Branch manager Lindsay Judd said: "We're all very excited about the new tea room and hope to move lock, stock and teaspoon into our new home later this summer."
