TWO school pupils are enjoying success in their chosen sports.
Georgina Turns, 15 and Dean Spencer, 14, both students at Shotton Hall School, in Peterlee, have made a mark in the sports of tenpin bowling and power boating.
Georgina has been selected for the Under-16 England Team tenpin bowling trials.
Headteacher Ian Mowbray, said: "While we can claim no credit for Georgina's success we are all of us naturally delighted for her."
Also bringing glory to the school is year ten pupil Dean, who is streaking ahead in the testing world of power boating.
In May, Dean entered a power boat competition at Hartlepool Yacht Club and won, beating 15 other entrants. Following this success, he took part in the regional finals of the competition and won, even though he was up against all the previous winners from other yacht clubs.
As a result of his success, Dean has been invited to compete at the Southampton Boat Show.
Mr Mowbray said: "We are very proud of Dean. It is most unusual for one so young to achieve so much success in a power boating competition and we wish him every success in Southampton.
"With his exceptional attitude, I am sure that Dean will once again do very well indeed."
