CAR enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend as two rare Jaguars go on public display.

A 1953 XK 120 and an XK 180 concept car will make an appearance at the Yorkshire Air Museum's Classic Wings and Wheels Show on Sunday. It will be the first time that the two have been seen together at a public event in Yorkshire.

The XK 180 is one of only two built. It is a fully operational vehicle that was produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary XK 120, as a modern interpretation of classic Jaguar design themes seen in the Le Mans-winning D-Type of the 1950s.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, of Coventry, has given its permission for the vehicles to go on display at the museum, in Elvington, near York.

They will be among a number of other rare cars at the show, including a 1930s Morris Oxford.

There will also be a Tiger Moth Flypast at 11am.

Tom Casselles, one of Britain's leading aerobatic pilots, will be conducting practice sessions over the adjoining airfield.

Gates open at 10am and admission is at normal museum rates of £5 for adults, £4 for senior citizens and £3 for children.
