THE new ambulance station at Bainbridge has opened for business.
The £250,000 development on the site of a former garage serves the upper and mid-Dales and replaces 50-year-old premises in the centre of the village.
The building includes space for a police vehicle as well as a community resource centre and meeting and training room. Dales Watch, the fell rescue team and other emergency services will also be able to use the premises as a base.
The resource centre, which cost £40,000, was funded by North Yorkshire and Richmondshire councils, Yorkshire Forward and Hambleton and Richmondshire Primary Care Trust and contributions from the three emergency services. The station was designed by Gelder and Kitchen architects, Richmond. Contractors Biker Wenwaste Construction, of Leyburn, began work in October. The station will be officially opened by Caroline Thornton-Berry, High Sheriff of North Yorkshire, on September 7.
