County Super League: Spennymoor moved back to the top of the table when they beat the visiting Newton Aycliffe by four points, but their two leading players, Ronnie McAloon and Gavin Witton both dropped a frame and so they failed to take a share of the top spot in the Individual Player of the Year table.

The Moors opened out well with wins from David Elliott, Steve Hunter and Dave Bromley but Newton Aycliffe levelled with wins from Gary Spooner, Richie Bellwood and Shaun Foxton. Paul Biddle moved the home side ahead at the interval.

Things did not go as well for the visitors in the second half as they only managed wins from Ross Killip and Shaun Foxton, whilst the Moors went to the top of the table with wins from Gavin Witton, Steven Jones, David Elliott, Ronnie McAloon and Paul Biddle.

Horden, who are still a serious bet for the Championship because of their matches in hand, won by four points against the visiting Durham. James Evans, Paul Hickman and John Bourne put the home side ahead with Ian Staines, Chris Beswick and Dave Neill equalising before Steve Nixon put the home side ahead going into the interval.

Lee Holdsworth and Simon Baker took the first two points of the second half for Durham, but that proved to be their last points as Horden had wins from Ged Evans, Darren Jones, Steve Wylie, Paul Hickman and Steve Nixon.

Bishop Auckland League

Crook Travellers Rest closed the gap on the leaders Henknowle Manor to just one point when they won by three points at Bishop Auckland Derby. The home side had two points from Andrew Delve and one each from Colin Gash, Stephen Lowther and Paul Stewart. The Travellers squared the match with two points from Stephen Burke and one each from Michael Burke. Aaron Cowan and Neil Campbell. The visitors then took over to complete their victory with Neil Campbell and Stephen Burke winning the doubles and Michael Burke taking both captain's points from Paul Stewart.

Spennymoor Weardale moved into third place, three points adrift of the Travellers Rest and three ahead of Shildon Royal George when they beat the visiting Bishop Auckland Football Club by three points. The Weardale had two points from Steve Hunter and one each from Richie Turner, Peter Summerfield, Steve Jones and Paul Biddle. The footballers replied with singles points from Lee Taylor, Tony Lambert, Lee Diaz and Craig Lumley. The home side took the doubles through Steve Hunter and Richie Turner before Paul Biddle and Lee Taylor shared the captain's games.

Crook Individual League

Richard Walker came very close to completing a whitewash win over Stuart Hall with three clearances. He broke and cleared in the first and then cleared in the second after Stuart broke. In the third break he broke and potted six balls before wobbling his final colour. However after a spell of tactical play, he clinched victory by taking his final ball and the black.

Gerald Parkin went through by the odd point against Doug Bowey. The tactical first frame went to Gerald, whist Doug levelled with a good clearance in the second. However it was Gerald who took the decider with an equally good clearance.

Darren Tinkler leads the table by six points from David Craggs, who is one point ahead of David Stephenson.

Tow Law and District League

The new teams to the league are making their mark with some good results. Sunniside Moss Inn moved up to share second place after they only dropped two points on their visit to Tow Law New Market B, whose only singles point came from Steven English with Chris Bowes and Jack McGrath adding a doubles. The Moss had two points from John Beveridge, Lee Cullinan and Chris Hardy with Ivor Childs, Terry Taylor and Steve Greenbank adding one each before Chris Hardy and Ivor Childs added the doubles.

Two new teams met in a Billy Row derby with the Royal George entertaining Billy Row Club. Steve Heaton, Colin Boughey and Mike Musgrove gave the Club the half time lead when only Alan Winter and Daviel Kerridge took points for the george. However the tables were turned in the second half when Richie Morgan, Daniel Kerridge and Steven Seaman won for the home side with Mike Musgrove and Gary Cutler levelling. Alan Townsend joined Kerridge to put the George ahead but Heaton and Cutler won the second doubles to force the draw.

Newhouse Club are the early league leaders with a three points advantage over the two Sunniside teams, the Moss Inn and the Comedian, who are just one ahead of Wolsingham Club.
