A CHARITY has bought a seven-seat minibus to take people with special needs on outings.
Breathing Space, at the Mencap Centre, in Northallerton, was given a £24,000 grant from the Hambleton and Richmondshire Primary Care Trust's learning disability fund.
The Countryside Agency has also contributed to the running costs of the specially-adapted vehicle.
The charity helps organise community activities for people with learning difficulties to give their carers a break.
Manager Gina Tye said: "This bus is going to allow us to reach more people with greater needs so that they can actually go out and do what interests them.
"It will make a difference to the lives of people with more complex needs."
The service is available in Richmondshire, Thirsk, Easingwold, Northallerton, Bedale and Stokesley.
