EVENTS have been held across the region to mark Architecture Week.
One NorthEast has been encouraging people to join in and appreciate the many architectural places of interest and importance throughout the region.
Events include exhibitions, talks and conferences and visits to new buildings.
Val Lowther, of the One NorthEast tourism team, said: "Architecture is all around us but, because it is so familiar, we tend to take it for granted and often do not notice beautiful and historical buildings that we walk past every day."
Among the buildings involved are the Victorian covered market and clock tower in West Row, Darlington.
Ms Lowther said: "There is also St Cuthbert's Church in Market Square, the yards between Skinnergate and High Row and Pease's House on Houndgate, all of which are easily accessible to the public."
