THE streets of Durham City will be filled with the sounds of international music next week.

Russian accordions, foot-stomping Samba beats and French vocals will greet visitors to the city on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4.

International Music in the City, arranged by Durham County Council's International Relations Office, as part of the City's Summer Festival, features 50 performers from County Durham's twinned areas of Kostroma, in Russia, and the Somme, in France.

The event sees the return to Durham of Line, French star of the Eurovision Song Contest, for performances with Francis Weill in the Milburngate Shopping Centre, Vennel's Courtyard and the Town Hall.

Rock group De Nada will be in Millennium Place and O'Neill's, while La Bande, a 30-piece Samba outfit from Paris, will bring a taste of Brazil to the Market Place, Framwelgate and Elvet Bridge.
