At the recent AGM of the junior section of the English Ice Hockey Association it was decided that the leagues will be renamed division one and two replacing division A and B leagues.
The play-off format too has been changed. In previous seasons the bottom two teams in the A league and the top two sides from the B league would be in play-offs with the leading two after the mini league being in the A league for the following season and the bottom two to play in B league. From this season 2004-2005 the bottom team in division one would be automatically relegated and the winners of division two gain automatic promotion. Teams finishing second bottom in division one and runners-up in division two would be in the play-offs.
Billingham Falcons, who faced relegation from U14 North Division One and Whitley Arrows who faced relegation from U12 North Division One have been handed reprieves. This is because some clubs in the Northern Conference are putting extra teams in the second division and the second division should not have more teams in it than the first.
Billingham Ice Hockey Club are holding their annual presentation night tomorrow at the Billingham Social Club at 7.30pm.
