CHILDREN from a Newton Aycliffe school have returned from a week on a tall ship.
Pupils from Greenfield School Community and Arts College, in Newton Aycliffe, were on board the Hartlepool Renaissance for a trip organised through the Cirdan Sailing Trust.
To gain a place the youngsters entered a competition in which they were awarded points for good behaviour and attendance, with the top ten going on the trip.
The winning pupils were Nathan Kellett, Ashley Bailey, Vickki Beadle, Sherri-Ann Quinn, David Hughes, Danielle Walling, Craig Grimes, Lee Bambridge, Martin Clark and Stuart Furlonger.
As part of the trip the group sailed to Hartlepool and spent a night under Newcastle's Millennium Bridge.
Construction company Mears donated 12 fleeces bearing the Ican logo and the group also helped raise money with fundraising events.
The school hope to take pupils again next year. Companies wanting to sponsor the trip can contact Michelle Hawronskyj, from the school, on (01325) 379047.
