Pupils from Barnard Castle Preparatory School have raised £228.39 for Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team when they set up a cake stall at break.
The event was to repay the rescue team, which visited the school earlier this year.
Meg, a border collie trained to work with the team, demonstrated her abilities by finding headteacher Ted Haslam in the school grounds.
Reception class teacher Penny Honess said: "The children have worked really hard helping us organise the event and parents have been wonderfully supportive too."
Mr Haslam said: "Break times at school are always popular, but the feast that was on offer made this one especially memorable."
