Ballyhurry, who can be excused a poor run on easy ground last time, is worth another chance back on his favoured fast ground in the George Wimpey East Scotland Ltd Handicap over seven furlongs at Musselburgh.
From the in-form Jim Goldie stable, the seven-year-old is much better judged on his previous effort over this course and distance when shaping as though coming to hand behind Kirkby's Treasure.
He didn't get the best of runs that day so can be considered a bit better than the bare form and he's slipped back to a potentially favourable mark.
A strong gallop will be in his favour and he showed his liking for this course and distance last year when successful here on two occasions (also won over a mile at the track), including in this race last year.
Mick Channon and Tony Culhane are always to be feared when they team up in the North and the combination can click with Themesofgreen in the wilkinsoncorr.com Handicap over the same trip of seven furlongs.
The three-year-old has shown ability in maidens but will appreciate the step into this company for his handicap debut and won't have to improve too much to get off the mark this time.
Richard Fahey has his team in good form and, at Pontefract's afternoon fixture, Market Avenue looks interesting in the betfair.com Apprentice Series Handicap over a mile and a quarter. The five-year-old was in tremendous form last year with four wins at up to this trip on a sound surface and she should be all the better for her comeback run at Redcar last month.
She didn't get much luck in running that day but she is entitled to strip fitter this time and, with her stable in good form at present, makes plenty of appeal on a mark that is lower than her last handicap win.
Fahey can also be on the mark with Tagula Sunrise, who is unlikely to bump into anything of the calibre of Miss Meggy this time, in the opening maiden auction stakes.
Mark Johnston's Leo's Lucky Star created a favourable impression when successful at Ayr on his debut and he's the confident choice in the Spindrifter Conditions event over six furlongs.
This imposing colt ran away with that debut race and, although he tended to drift left, he'll have a left hand rail to run against this time and he's the type physically to improve again.
Fahey's Sharoura, who should be spot on after two recent starts, also has each-way claims in the EBF Gerrard Wealth Management Fillies Handicap over her optimum trip of six furlongs.
