THE weather may have been wintry but the fashions were the height of summer - apart from the brollies.
Rain failed to dampen the spirits of racegoers who flocked to the Northumberland Plate meeting at Gosforth Park, Newcastle.
A total of 45,000 people passed through the gates of the course over the three-day festival, which came to an end on Saturday.
And in the final race, the appropriately-named Soaked romped home to the delight of the dozens who piled on their money and brought it in to a 7-2 favourite.
Course general manager David Williamson said: "It might have poured with rain on Thursday and Saturday, but the Newcastle public have come out in huge numbers for this great North-East occasion."
