THOUSANDS of teachers and pupils were at an army base last Tuesday for the first day of the UK's largest ever-outdoor army careers exhibition.
The three-day Army Exhibition for Schools (North) at Marne Barracks, Catterick Village, is designed to give students a taste of army life.
Pupils were able to compete in a gruelling assault obstacle course, scale a 30ft tower and descend an aerial ropeway.
Hundreds of soldiers were on hand to discuss the army careers available.
Lieutenant Colonel John May, commander regional recruiting for the North-East and Yorkshire, said: "This is the sixth year we have held this event and it has always proved extremely popular with schools throughout the North."
