AN opticians in Darlington is taking part in a fundraising campaign to raise money for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
Specsavers Opticians will donate 10p to the charity for every eye test undertaken next month.
Nigel Best, store director, said: "I think it is a fantastic campaign. Guide dogs is such a worthy cause and I hope that we raise a substantial amount throughout the coming month.
"We hope that with the added appeal of helping out such a reputable charity, more people will be encouraged to get their eyes tested and become more aware of the importance of having good eyesight."
Almost 500 Specsavers stores across the UK will be taking part in the fundraising drive, helping to raise the £100,000 needed to train 20 puppies as guide dogs.
Debbie Wheeler, local representative for the charity, said: "It costs £10 a day to train, breed and support a guide dog throughout its lifetime.
